1. The Elliott Bay Book Company
Locals and tourists alike visit this store every day. It's a landmark for this city, located near the bay it's named after. The location is multilevel and has bestsellers, local zines, and more. You'll find many events, author readings, and book clubs happening in this space.
Elliott Bay Book Company is located at 1521 10th Avenue. They are open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm every day.
2. Arundel Books
This store was founded as a fine press publisher in 1984. It's gone through many incarnations but is now a beautiful bookshop in historic Pioneer Square. They are located at 322 1st Ave S. Come here looking for the latest bestseller or for rare and out-of-print books.
Books collectors and avid readers won't want to miss the chance to visit this store in person. They're open every day from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
3. Mercer Street Books
There's nothing like spending a day browsing a large, well-stocked used bookshop. You'll want to bring a few large tote bags to this one. You'll have a new appreciation for the easy cargo access granted by the power liftgate in your 2023 Honda Passport Elite. It makes loading bags full of used books so much easier.
This shop is located in Lower Queen Anne at 7 Mercer Street. They both buy and sell classic books as long as they are in excellent condition. The store is open from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday through Saturday and 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sunday.
4. Lamplight Books
This shop is a gem hidden inside Pike Place Market. This is a cozy indie shop with a wide selection of new and rare titles. The store is located inside the market at 1514 Pike Place #14. They are open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm every day.
5. Madison Books
Madison Books has been in Seattle since 2019. In a short time, the shop has become a community staple for the Madison neighborhood. They hold signings and fun events and have a small store that feels intimate. Also, they have a wide selection of new books, lots of great gift items, and a well-designed, bright space.
You can visit Madison Books at 4118 E Madison Street. They are open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm every day.
